Seattle Reign FC Starting XI vs. NJ/NY Gotham FC
Seattle Reign FC Head Coach Laura Harvey fields a new lineup as the Reign take on NJ/NY Gotham FC at 7:00 p.m. PT at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington.
Lineup notes:
This is the club’s 20th different lineup, having listed a different starting XI in every regular season game this season.
There are four changes to the lineup from last week’s 3-2 win against Angel City FC: defenders Lauren Barnes and Hanna Glas, midfielder Jaelin Howell and midfielder Angharad James-Turner all slot in for defenders Julia Lester and Sofia Huerta, midfielder Jess Fishlock and forward Jordyn Huitema.
Among the club’s 20 starting XI’s, this will be the team’s 11th unique starting backline, featuring defenders Lauren Barnes, Hanna Glas, Shae Holmes and Phoebe McClernon.
Six of the starters from the last meeting against Gotham FC on June 30, which resulted in a 1-1 draw, are starting in tonight’s match.
Captain/Defender Lauren Barnes gets her first start since June 23 against Racing Louisville FC, when she went down with a leg injury. Barnes has entered the match as a substitute in the team’s last two matches.
Defender Hanna Glas gets her first start with the Reign, which is also her club debut and NWSL regular season debut.
Midfielder Jess Fishlock misses her first start since Week 8 when the club hosted Kansas City on May 8.
Midfielder Ji So-Yun and defender Phoebe McClernon, both starting tonight, are the only two players on the Reign to appear in all 20 matches this season.
Midfielder Jaelin Howell returns to the starting lineup for the second time with the Reign after serving a one-game suspension last week due to yellow card accumulation.
