OL Reign Acquire Draft Pick and Allocation Money in Trade with Angel City FC
OL Reign today announced that it has acquired Angel City FC’s natural second round pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft and $45,000 in allocation money. In return, OL Reign has sent defender Madison Hammond to Angel City FC.
Hammond first joined OL Reign as a non-roster invitee ahead of the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, before signing with the team that summer. She made her debut in September 2020 during the NWSL Fall Series in OL Reign’s 2-2 draw against the Utah Royals, becoming the first Native American player to play in the NWSL. Throughout 2020, the young defender played 195 minutes for the Reign.
In 2021, Hammond played 90 minutes in all four of OL Reign’s Challenge Cup matches. During the regular season, she played in 13 games and made 10 starts. On defense, Hammond made 23 clearances, nine interceptions and four blocks.
“We want to wish Madison all the best in her new adventure with Angel City FC, as well as thank her for her time at OL Reign, her professionalism and for her many contributions to the club and community,” said OL Reign General Manager Nick Perera.
