Women’s History Month Spotlight: Keelin Pattillo
OL Reign is celebrating Women's History Month by honoring the women that teach, inspire, make history and push us to greatness. The second woman we will be honoring this month is a legendary player in Reign history, Keelin Pattillo.
Pattillo was the captain of the Reign the entire time she was with the team, from the inaugural 2013 season to the 2016 season. She was a key part of the team’s growth and success during this time. Under her leadership, the team won two back-to-back NWSL Shields in 2014 and 2015. She retired from professional soccer after the 2016 season and started her new career as a firefighter.
Pattillo’s list of soccer achievements is impressive, starting with attending the University of Portland from 2007 to 2010. She was named West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year in 2007 and West Coast Conference Player of the Year in 2010.
She was also called up to the U-20 U.S. Women’s National Team in 2008, where she was named captain of the squad and lead the team to win the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. During that run, Pattillo scored the game-winning goal in the quarterfinal match against England.
When asked by current OL Reign defender Lu Barnes, Pattillo shared that her favorite Reign memories include scoring in her final home game at Memorial Stadium and celebrating with the team, winning the 2014 and 2015 NWSL Shields, Jess Fishlock’s equalizer in the pouring rain against Sky Blue that extended the Reign’s unbeaten run and receiving the shield after that match.
Pattillo shared that beyond the soccer field the things she is most proud of achieving in her life are becoming a firefighter at Kirkland Fire Department and her family – being a mom of two boys and Paige’s partner.
