Megan Rapinoe Named to USWNT Roster for April Friendlies

U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Vlatko Andonovski has named 23 players for the trip to Europe during the April FIFA international match window that will feature friendly games against Sweden in Stockholm and France in Le Havre.

The U.S. roster includes OL Reign forward Megan Rapinoe. The 35-year-old has 173 caps and 57 goals for the U.S. since beginning her senior national team career in 2006. Rapinoe has made appearances in all five of the USWNT matches in 2021, tallying five goals and one assist.

The No. 1 ranked USWNT plays their first of two matches during the April FIFA international match window on April 10 (FOX at 10 a.m. PT), against No. 5 ranked Sweden at Friends Arena in Stockholm. The last time these teams went head-to-head on November 7, 2019, the U.S. secured a 3-2 victory.

The U.S. will then travel to Stade Océane in Le Havre to face off against No. 3 ranked France on April 13 (ESPN 2 at 12 p.m. PT). This will be the first time that the two sides have clashed since the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup quarterfinal, where the U.S. narrowly defeated France 2-1.

The matches against Sweden and France are the first away matches that the undefeated U.S. WNT will play this year as they look to prepare for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
