OL Reign Sign Forward Miranda Nild and Goalkeeper Ella Dederick

OL Reign has announced the signing of forward Miranda Nild and goalkeeper Ella Dederick for the 2021 season. Subsequent to her signing, Nild was loaned to Kristianstads DFF of the Swedish Damallsvenskan through December 31, 2021.

Nild, 23, is a 2018 graduate of Cal Berkeley. She trained with OL Reign in 2020 as a non-roster invitee and was originally signed to a short-term contract by the club in September 2020, prior to the NWSL Fall Series. Nild is a member of the Thai Women’s National Team, having made her debut in 2017. Nild started and played the full 90 minutes of all three of Thailand’s matches at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France. The Castro Valley, California native also won the 2019 Lithuanian A Lyga with Gintra Universitetas.

“I am really excited not only to sign with OL Reign again, but to experience the professional world in Sweden,” said Nild. “I can already tell that Kristianstads DFF is an amazing organization, and I cannot wait to get started.”

“Miranda showed great potential in the Fall Series and again during our training this preseason,” said OL Reign head coach Farid Benstiti. “We think she will really benefit from playing consistent minutes this season, which Kristianstads will be able to provide. We will be excited to welcome her back to the squad for the 2022 season.”

Goalkeeper Ella Dederick is a 2019 graduate of Washington State University. She finished her career with the Cougs as the all-time leader in wins (53), games played (90), and minutes (8158), as well as second in saves (306) and shutouts (29). Dederick joined OL Reign’s preseason training as a non-roster invitee in February 2021.

“I would just like to thank OL Reign for making my dreams a reality. I feel extremely blessed to be a part of such a great organization,” said Dederick. “I’ve seen nothing but smiling faces and open arms. I am so happy I get to continue playing soccer in Washington, it already feels like home!”

“We have very positive feelings about Ella and are happy to welcome her to the squad,” said Benstiti. “She has really shown her quality and potential over the past few weeks—it has been very good. She has earned this opportunity and we will work hard to help her grow and develop as a player.”

With the additions of Nild and Dederick, OL Reign now has 27 players occupying roster slots for the 2021 season.
