Seattle Reign FC Midfielder Ji So-Yun Wins Second NWSL Goal of the Week Honor

Seattle Reign FC midfielder Ji So-Yun has won NWSL Goal of the Week for week 17 of the NWSL regular season. In the Reign’s comeback 3-2 win over Racing Louisville FC, Ji notched the second goal of the match in the 75th minute.

The goal marked Ji’s second goal of the season and first goal since March. She also became the first Reign player other than Megan Rapinoe to score a goal from a direct free kick since 2016.

NWSL Goal of the Week, an award originally established in 2016, returns for the 2024 season. The honor is awarded by popular social media vote to the player deemed to have scored the best goal over the last week of play.

The midfielder came onto the field as a substitute for the Reign in the 54th minute of the match and made an immediate impact, scoring the game-tying goal and forcing a Louisville own goal for the game winner.

Ji is one of three Reign players to win NWSL Goal of the Week this season. This is her second win, as she earned the honor for her goal in Match.
