Seattle Reign FC Midfielder Ji So-Yun Nominated for NWSL Goal of the Week

Seattle Reign FC midfielder Ji So-Yun has been nominated for NWSL Goal of the Week for Week 17 for her 75th minute game-tying goal against Racing Louisville FC. Ji subbed into the match in the 54th minute for the Reign and made an immediate impact, first scoring the game-tying goal before forcing the Louisville own goal that won the match.

Nominated alongside Kansas City’s Temwa Chawinga, North Carolina’s Cortnee Vine and Orlando’s Adriana. Ji’s set piece stunner bypassed Louisville’s wall and goalkeeper before cascading into the back of the net and kickstart the Reign’s comeback win. The win marked Seattle’s first victory against Racing Louisville since the very first meeting between the teams in July 2021.

Ji became the first Reign FC player other than Megan Rapinoe to score a direct free kick goal since defender Lauren Barnes scored in September 2016.
