OL Reign Signs Forward Jordyn Huitema
OL Reign today announced that it has signed forward Jordyn Huitema to an international roster spot through the 2023 season with the option to extend it through the 2024 NWSL season. Huitema joins the Reign from Paris Saint-Germain in exchange for an agreed upon transfer fee, which included Allocation Money. Per league and club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Jordyn has shown her ability to play at the highest level at both the club and international level,” said OL Reign head coach Laura Harvey. “We understand how much potential she has and think that she could have an important role on this team.”
Huitema spent three seasons with the French club, making 71 appearances and scoring nine goals across all competitions. Just over a month ago, Huitema won the Coupe de France with PSG. The 21-year-old entered the Division 1 Féminine with PSG in 2019 at the age of 18, bypassing college, and helped guide the club to earn its first-ever Division 1 Féminine title in 2021.
“I’m really looking forward to this new chapter and opportunity with OL Reign. This team is filled with some of the most talented players from around the world and I’m honored to be a part of it,” said Huitema. “I’m eager to get started and can’t wait to contribute to the team’s success.”
A native of Chilliwack, BC, Huitema has made 49 caps and 16 starts for Canada, tallying 14 goals and three assists. Additionally, the Canadian helped her country win the Olympic gold medal in 2021, appearing in four games and playing alongside Quinn. The duo also represented Canada at the World Cup in 2019. Most recently, Huitema was called up to join her country for the upcoming FIFA international window in June and will join the Reign upon her return from international duty.
