OL Reign Sign Ryanne Brown and Marley Canales as National Team Replacement Players

OL Reign today announced that it has signed defender Ryanne Brown and midfielder Marley Canales as National Team Replacement players. Per league and club policy, financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Brown and Canales were both selected by OL Reign in the 2022 NWSL Draft and spent preseason training with the team.

Brown was originally selected by OL Reign with the 21st overall pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft. The Wake Forest University graduate played 1,248 minutes during her senior year and started in 14 games. She finished the season with three goals and two assists after playing at least 65 minutes in every game. Brown is a very versatile player who has experience playing in the back line, midfield and up top.

OL Reign selected Marley Canales with the 47th overall pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft. Canales, a midfielder out of UCLA, was a third-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2021. Team captain for UCLA, she started in all 20 games of the season for the team. The tenacious midfielder scored three goals and notched three assists her final year as a Bruin.

Brown and Canales are both available for selection in OL Reign’s upcoming Challenge Cup match on Thursday, April 14 at Lumen Field against San Diego Wave FC.
