OL Reign Obtain Rights to Alyssa Malonson from Courage

OL Reign today announced that it has obtained the rights to defender Alyssa Malonson from the North Carolina Courage, who acquired midfielder Frankie Tagliaferri from OL Reign following a successful Discovery Challenge

Malonson was originally drafted by the Courage in the 2021 NWSL Draft with the 20th overall pick, but opted to stay at Auburn University to play out her fifth year of eligibility in 2021.

In her career with the Tigers, she played in a total of 97 matches, earning the start in each match. Malonson scored four goals and tallied an impressive 23 assists for Auburn.

She earned several honors for her performances during the 2021 season, including SEC Defender of the Year, United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Southeast Region, and United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-America. The Spring, Texas native set the Auburn University program records for games played, games started, and consecutive games started as she logged 97 straight starts.
