Dickey, Ivory and Malonson Called Up to United States Under-23 Women’s Youth National Team for January Camp
OL Reign holds the rights to three players that have been called up to the United States Women’s Under-23 camp in Austin, Texas from January 23-28 – Claudia Dickey, Laurel Ivory and Alyssa Malonson. This is the first Under-23 action since fall 2019 due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 18-player roster features seven current college players, two current NWSL players with one season of pro experience and nine players that were selected in either the 2021 or 2022 NWSL Drafts, or have their rights held by NWSL clubs, but have yet to play in the league. The U-23s will be a part of a closed-door scrimmage against the full USWNT at the end of training camp.
Dickey was drafted by OL Reign in the 2022 NWSL Draft with the 20th overall pick. The goalkeeper from Charlotte, North Carolina, played in 81 career matches for the University of North Carolina, for a total of over 5,800 minutes with a goals-against average of 0.53. She set a university record with 100 career starts and 8,998 minutes played and ranks second all-time with 68 career wins. She was the starting goalkeeper for the U-17 national team that advanced to the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, as well as the starting goalkeeper for the U-20 national team in England in summer 2017. Ivory was named the 2016 CONCACAF U-17 World Cup Qualifying Golden Glove winner and to the 2016 CONCACAF U-17 World Cup Qualifying Best XI Team.
Malonson was originally drafted by the Courage in the 2021 NWSL Draft with the 20th overall pick, but OL Reign obtained her rights in a trade with the Courage on January 12, 2021. Playing primarily defender, the Spring, Texas native started and played in 97 consecutive matches in her career with Auburn, setting a program record.
