Jess Fishlock Called Up to Wales National Team for November World Cup Qualifiers

OL Reign midfielder Jess Fishlock has been named to the 26-player Wales roster by head coach Gemma Grainger for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Greece and France.

No. 34 ranked Wales first takes on No. 64 ranked Greece at Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli, Wales at 11:15 a.m. PT on Friday, November 26. Wales in undefeated in Group I with three wins and one draw, while Greece has two wins and two losses.

Wales plays their second match against No. 5 ranked France at Stade de Roudourou in Guingamp, France at 12:10 p.m. PT on Tuesday, November 30. France sits atop Group I, with four wins from four games. Back in 2012, France beat Wales in the UEFA Women’s Championship, by a score of 4-0.

Fishlock is a regular on the Wales squad. A veteran player and leader for Wales, she has 127 caps. The midfielder most recently played for Wales over the October FIFA window, helping Wales to remain undefeated in World Cup qualifying play. The team earned a 1-1 draw against Slovenia and a 4-0 win over Estonia.
