Fishlock, Quinn, and Bardsley Named to National Team Rosters
Three OL Reign players—Jess Fishlock, Quinn, and Karen Bardsley—have been called up to their national teams for matches in the June FIFA window. Additionally, Bardsley was named to the Team GB roster for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
OL Reign midfielder Jess Fishlock has been called up to the Wales Women’s National Team. A veteran player for Wales, Fishlock was the first Welsh player—man or woman—to reach 100 caps. In her last match with Wales on April 13, Fishlock scored the game tying goal in the 60th minute against Denmark. No. 32 ranked Wales plays their only match during the June FIFA international match window against and No. 23 ranked Scotland on Tuesday, June 15 at a to-be-determined time at Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli, Wales. The two teams last met in the 2017 Cyprus Cup, where Scotland won 6-5 on penalties after a goalless draw.
OL Reign midfielder Quinn has been called up to the Canada WNT. Quinn has made 62 appearances for Canada, scoring five goals while adding four assists. Quinn and the Canadian WNT will take on No. 27 ranked Czech Republic on Friday, June 11 at 8:00 a.m. PT followed by No. 7 ranked Brazil on Monday, June 14 at 12:00 p.m. PT. Both matches will be played at Estadio Cartagonova in Spain.
OL Reign goalkeeper Karen Bardsley has been called up to the Great Britain team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She is one of five players returning to the squad to compete in their second Olympic Games. Previously, Bardsley played in the 2012 Olympics with Team Great Britain, starting and playing in four matches and earning 3 clean sheets. Bardsley has accumulated 82 caps for England, most recently appearing for England during the April FIFA window. The team will play three matches in the group phase, attempting to earn a spot in the knockout round. Great Britain will first play Chile on Wednesday, July 21, then face off against Japan on Saturday, July 24. Their last group phase game will be played against Canada, on Tuesday, July 27.
