Rapinoe and Lavelle Named to USWNT Roster for Summer Series

United States Women’s National Team head coach Vlatko Andonovski has named 23 players for the three matches to be played in Texas during the June FIFA international match window. The United States is set to play friendly games against Portugal, Jamaica, and Nigeria.

The United States roster includes OL Reign forward Megan Rapinoe and midfielder Rose Lavelle. Rapinoe, 35, made her debut for the senior national team in 2006 and has since made 175 appearances, scoring 59 goals and adding 69 assists. 26-year-old Lavelle, who will be joining OL Reign this week, made her senior national team debut in 2017, has 53 appearances for the team, scoring 14 goals and notching eight assists.

The No. 1 ranked U.S. Women’s National Team plays their first of three matches during the June FIFA international match window on Thursday, June 10, at 5:30 p.m. PT against No. 29 ranked Portugal at BBVA Stadium in Houston, Texas. The two teams last met on September 3, 2019, when the U.S. won 3-0 at Allianz Field in Minnesota.

The U.S. will then take on No. 51 ranked Jamaica on Sunday, June 13, at 7:00 p.m. PT at BBVA Stadium in Houston, Texas. The teams most recently met in a CONCACAF Women’s Championship game on October 14, 2018. Rapinoe scored one goal in the United States’ 6-0 win.

The U.S. will play their final Summer Series match against the No. 38 ranked Nigeria on Wednesday, June 16 at 6:00 p.m. PT at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. The two teams have not met since June 16, 2015, when the U.S. came away with a 1-0 victory.
