Reign FC Re-Signs Jess Fishlock in Two-Year Deal

Reign FC has re-signed midfielder Jess Fishlock in a two-year deal covering the 2020 and 2021 NWSL seasons.

Fishlock is Reign FC original, having played for the club since its inaugural 2013 season. The midfielder made five appearances for Reign FC during the 2019 season, scoring three goals and adding one assist. Fishlock was named the NWSL Player of the Month for June before being placed on the season-ending injury list after tearing her ACL against the Utah Royals on June 28.

“Bringing Jess back for 2020 was one of our key priorities this offseason,” said Reign FC CEO Bill Predmore. “She has been an incredibly important part of this squad and continues to deliver great performances when we need them. Despite only playing a handful of matches for us last season, Jess demonstrated the quality and leadership she brings when she is on the pitch. We are thrilled to have her back.”

Fishlock returned to Reign FC last May after claiming the 2018-19 UEFA Women’s Champions League title while on loan at Olympique Lyonnais. The Welsh midfielder has been named to the NWSL Best XI in four of her seven seasons in the league and was also named to the 2016 NWSL Second XI.

“Returning to Reign FC was an easy decision for me,” Fishlock said. “I am excited for the future of this club and I wanted to be a part of that. Throughout my whole rehabilitation process, Reign FC has been so supportive and helpful in ensuring that I get the best medical care possible. I will forever be grateful and hope I can repay that when I get back to full fitness.”
