Austin Everett Foundation Honorary Captain: Danica Taylor
During the NWSL Fall Series, OL Reign, as part of its longstanding partnership with the Austen Everett Foundation, will select an honorary team captain ahead of every match. OL Reign is proud to celebrate Danica Taylor as the club’s honorary captain for the October 17 match against Utah Royals FC.
Four-year-old Danica battles Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT), a form of brain cancer. Originally from Alaska, she moved to Washington to receive treatment and has undergone 16 surgeries in the last year. Danica loves to go swimming, hiking and dancing. She loves to help her mom bake cookies and loves music.
To recognize Danica as the club’s honorary captain, she will receive team gear to show off her OL Reign pride, as well as a video message from OL Reign player Rosie White.
The Austen Everett Foundation works to empower kids in their fight against cancer through the strength and support of professional and collegiate athletic teams. Within the AEF Honorary Team Captain Program, a child battling cancer becomes the "Honorary Team Captain” for a day, providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to benefit from the powerful support that a team environment can provide.
