Around OL – Aouar Makes Senior International Debut

Here’s all the latest news from around the OL family.

Aouar Makes Senior Debut for Les Bleus

Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Houssem Aouar made his senior national team debut for France on Wednesday, October 7 in a friendly against Ukraine. The Lyon native started and played 58 minutes in a 7-1 victory.

Aouar, 22, recently made his 100th league appearance for Lyon. He has one goal in four appearances for OL since the start of the Ligue 1 season.

“It’s good to have won,” Aouar said after the match. “We scored a lot of goals. It’s good for our confidence. At first, I had a bit of trouble making space between the lines. I managed more and more to link up with my teammates and it took care of itself. It is with the national team that the best players play together. It’s gratifying for me. I am very proud and will continue to work. I had no apprehension. The other players have spoken to me. There is a desire to do more on my part. It was a long way to get here. I am very happy, and I hope it will continue.”

Aouar did not appear for France in a 0-0 draw against Portugal in the group stage UEFA Nations League A on Sunday.
