Seattle Reign FC Wins Human Rights Campaign Community Impact Award

Seattle Reign FC and Human Rights Campaign Seattle recently announced that the club will be recognized with the Human Rights Campaign Community Impact Award at the 2024 HRC Seattle Dinner on October 5. The dinner, an opportunity for the community to come together, will be held at the Sheraton Grand Seattle.

Over the last year and since its inception, Seattle Reign FC has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the LGBTQ+ community each and every day, on and off the field.

This stewardship, ingrained in the Reign’s DNA, is highlighted by the club’s support of local organizations and championing of LGBTQ+ participation in sport to build an inclusive community and create a welcoming atmosphere at their matches.

Reign FC strives to work with inclusive organizations that support LQBTQ+ communities, in recent years partnering with Intentionalist to support LQBTQ+ owned businesses, publicly supporting the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and its gender-inclusive toolkit for leaders who interact with youth athletes across the state and partnering with Sounders FC to host gender diverse youth soccer clinics.

One of the highlights of Seattle Reign FC’s support is the annual Pride match. Each year, the team puts on a match dedicated to celebrating and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. In a show of solidarity at each Pride match, Reign players wear jerseys that feature rainbow numbers on the back.

Reign players have also worn Protect Trans Kids t-shirts during warm-ups, which are auctioned off along with the Pride jerseys to raise money for a cause that supports the LGBTQ+ community. Last season, over $30,000 was donated to Seattle-based LGBTQ+ organizations Lambert House and Lavender Rights Project.

Seattle Reign FC takes pride in using its platform loudly and proudly to show up for the LQBTQ+ community. Learn more about HRC Seattle and the awards dinner here
