Seattle Reign FC Honors Black History Month

Join Seattle Reign FC in celebrating Black History Month this February. This month and throughout the entire year, we encourage our community to find power in expressing pride and taking steps to become more educated.

To begin Black History Month celebration, Reign FC has once again partnered with Intentionalist to encourage fans to support Black-owned businesses in our communities and #SpendLikeItMatters. Together, we can put our collective thumb on the scales of economic justice.

On the Intentionalist website, fans can explore the featured Black-owned businesses. We encourage fans to check out the Receipt & Receive program, Black History Month Small Business Pass, Black History Month Marketplace and Black Black Friday Card. To learn more, visit the Intentionalist website.

“It's an honor for Seattle Reign FC to partner with Black Future Co-op Fund and Intentionalist for Black History Month to amplify Black excellence and Black brilliance across Washington,” said Seattle Reign FC Community and Social Impact Manager Steph Hirsch. “Collaborating with and learning alongside community leaders like WA State Senator and CEO of Black Future Co-op Fund T'wina Nobles is invaluable to our commitment to the social impact we hope to make when combatting racism in the football community.”

They continued, “We also know that Black/ African American small businesses have been the beating heart of the Seattle community before the 1860s. Without Seattle's Black Wall Street, now Central District, the city could not fund the critical infrastructure needed to grow its economy, like the Port of Seattle, without Black entrepreneurs and millionaires like William Grose funding those projects.”

“Seattle Reign FC stands as allies with the community, celebrating Black lives and Black culture on and off the pitch- always.”

In addition, the Reign are proud to continue their partnership with Black Future Co-op Fund. A longtime partner of the Reign, Black Future Co-op Fund serves as a critical catalyst for change in the club’s community, investing in areas that are underserved and unappreciated in an effort to elevate the community to a more equitable place.

As Washington's first Black-led philanthropy, they directly provide more resources, collective power and support to Black Washingtonians, a mission that the Reign strives to support each and every day. Throughout the month of February, the Reign will highlight a grantee or community leader from Black Future Co-op Fund and the difference they are making in our community.
