Reign FC Stays Rooted in PNW: A Letter from Ownership

Today, we begin the next chapter for Seattle Reign FC, a chapter we will write together. On behalf of our ownership group, it’s important to share this moment with all of you. First and foremost, thank you. Your steadfast support of this club – unwavering and loud – is humbling to me and our team as we start this journey. We know we need to earn your trust and we know your beloved club has been in limbo for too long. But today we commit to the future.

Simultaneously, in looking forward, we are invited to look back at our club’s story, one with deep roots and a legacy in our community.

It’s a story about Seattle and soccer – a club where legends have been made, trophies earned through grit and hard work, and indelible moments on the pitch are woven into the fabric of our culture.

It’s a story about excellence – the incredible players – those born and raised here who went on to represent the United States in winning the first star for the USWNT in 1991, and those who came here to play professional soccer and never left that changed the game forever.

And it’s a story about community. The connection that our fans feel with our players, the responsibility that our players and club feel to make room for all, while building a legacy of lasting change on and off the pitch.

That story is uniquely and authentically Seattle Reign FC. As we look forward, I am also excited that this club is being led by three experienced professionals who feel the same sense of responsibility to you. I know they will honor our history, grow our club, lead on and off the pitch and build a legacy for the next generation.

In addition to Head Coach Laura Harvey and General Manager Lesle Gallimore, I am excited that Maya Mendoza-Exstrom will move into leadership overseeing all Reign FC business operations. Born and raised in Seattle, Maya is an experienced executive who has spent ten years as a leader in Sounders FC. She has a passion for the Reign, our sport and this community.

We know that this season has not gone perfectly to plan. But that’s just the preamble to our next chapter. If we learn anything by looking back, it’s to never count this club out. Grit, hard work and the pursuit of excellence are characteristics at the very core of this club.

Our league and our sport are growing. The world is watching. Our next chapter opens with big ambitions. To win more trophies. To continue to lead our sport globally on and off the pitch. To celebrate more epic, memorable and indelible moments together along the way.  Let’s turn this page together to the next chapter.

With gratitude and excitement,
