Celebrate Pride With OL Reign on Saturday Afternoon

OL Reign will hold its annual Pride Match at Cheney Stadium this Saturday, June 26, at 1:00 p.m. PT against NJ/NY Gotham FC.

OL Reign’s 2021 Pride Match will be presented by Starbucks.

Grounded in a mission “to inspire and nurture the human spirit, one cup, one person and one neighborhood at a time,” Starbucks believes it has a responsibility to strengthen the communities it serves and has a long history of supporting its hometown in the Pacific Northwest.

In addition to Starbucks’ ongoing support of the OL Reign Legends Campaign, which celebrates extraordinary female leaders in our community, Starbucks will serve as the presenting sponsor of the club’s 2021 Pride Match, demonstrating their commitment to being an ally to the LGBTQ+ community.

“It was clear from our earliest conversations with Starbucks that our values are closely aligned, and that we share a commitment to being visible and vocal about shaping change in our community,” said OL Reign CEO Bill Predmore. “The Pride Match has become the focal point of our year-round support for the LGBTQ+ community. We are excited to celebrate with our players and fans at the match this weekend.”

In a show of solidarity and support for the LGBTQ+ community, OL Reign will wear jerseys that feature rainbow numbers during Saturday’s match against Gotham FC.

The club will sell the match-worn, player-signed jerseys to raise money for Tacoma’s Rainbow Center. The Rainbow Center expands resources and provides a safe space for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, two-spirit, and allied community through education, advocacy, and celebration.

The one-of-a-kind jerseys will be available for purchase starting at halftime of the Pride Match for $249.00 each here. All proceeds from the sale of the jerseys will be donated to the Rainbow Center. In addition to the funds raised by the sales of the jerseys, Starbucks has committed to donating $4,500 to the Rainbow Center in support of the Rainbow Center’s mission.

Fans can also purchase items from the club’s 2021 Pride Collection, which includes t-shirts, tank tops, shoelaces, scarves, and stickers, at the Team Store at Cheney Stadium or online. And for the first time in club history, fans are now able to purchase OL Reign authentic primary and secondary jerseys with rainbow numbers on the back.

Kickoff for OL Reign’s 2021 Pride Match is set for 1:00 p.m. PT on Saturday, June 26. Fans in the United States can stream the match on Paramount+, while international fans can watch the game on Twitch.

“Having a pride match and being able to celebrate a pride match is so fundamentally important,” said OL Reign midfielder Jess Fishlock. “We saw this week just how important it is to be visible. The most important thing we can do as athletes, as organizations, is to be present and visible for all. I cannot wait for our pride match.”
