OL Reign Extends Contract of Midfielder Olivia Van der Jagt
OL Reign announced today that midfielder Olivia Van der Jagt has agreed to a contract extension through the 2026 NWSL season*, making the second-year midfielder the longest contracted player on the club’s roster.
“Getting drafted by my hometown team and being able to start my professional career in Seattle was a dream come true,” said Van der Jagt. “I’m so honored and grateful to have the opportunity to continue playing where I grew up for another three years in front of my family and friends. I’m proud to represent this city and our fans and will give my very best to help us achieve our goals.”
Since entering the league in 2022, the 24-year-old has made 32 appearances (21 starts) in regular season play for 2,013 total minutes and ranks 10th in the NWSL in aerial duels won (60), adding one goal, nine shots, 124 duels won, 28 tackles won and 15 interceptions.
“We’re extremely pleased to have Olo as a part of our club through 2026. She is a terrific person and teammate and a wonderful talent,” said OL Reign general manager Lesle Gallimore. “She has established herself as a player of note in the NWSL in a short period of time. She excels on both sides of the ball as a box-to-box midfielder and is only going to get better and better with experience. She’s a wonderful story of local success, a story that she’ll continue to write here in Seattle with OL Reign.”
This season, Van der Jagt has started in eight of 11 games played and scored one goal, the game-winning goal in the team’s home opener against San Diego on April 15. The Kent native has also made two starts in four appearances throughout the 2023 UKG Challenge Cup, helping the club clinch the West division for a second consecutive season.
Selected as the 33rd overall pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft, the University of Washington graduate kicked off her rookie campaign appearing in four Challenge Cup games and recording one goal and one assist in the competition. Following the Challenge Cup, Van der Jagt went on to appear in every regular season game after not playing in the season opener, finishing the season second on the team in games played (21).
“Olo has been such a great fit for our club and embodies all of the qualities we look for in a player, which is why we’re thrilled to have her with us for the next three seasons,” said OL Reign head coach Laura Harvey. “Since we drafted her, she’s made an immediate impact on our roster and has been a consistent threat with her presence in the midfield. We’re very happy to have her on our side and watch her grow through 2026.”
At Washington, Van der Jagt set a Husky record for most games played in a career when she finished with 88 appearances (75 starts) in the purple and gold.
