Midfielder Jess Fishlock Named to Wales Roster for Friendly Against USWNT

OL Reign midfielder Jess Fishlock has been named to the 22-player Cymru squad to face the United States Women’s National Team in their World cup Send-Off match on July 9 at PayPal Park in San Jose, California at 1:00 p.m. PT.

The match will be the first time the Cymru women’s team will play outside of Europe, and the first time they will face the four-time World Cup winning USWNT. Fishlock, who is the record cap holder for Wales, has 141 caps and 36 goals in her international career for Wales. A leader on the team, she was the first Welsh player to reach 100 caps.

The midfielder most recently appeared for Wales on April 11 against Portugal in a friendly, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Fishlock scored her most recent international goal during the same international break, on April 6 of this year in Cymru’s international friendly match against Northern Ireland. Her 16th-minute strike was the opening goal in what ended up as a 4-1 victory for Wales.
