Key Info Ahead of the Match:
1. LAST MEETING – Seattle Reign FC and the Orlando Pride last met in the Reign’s final match of the 2024 season, in Orlando. The Pride scored the opening goal just nine minutes into play, but the Reign answered back a minute later to level the score. Despite the squad’s best efforts, they narrowly fell 3-2 to close out the season. Forward Jordyn Huitema and midfielder Maddie Mercado scored the Reign’s two goals of the night. Earlier in the 2024 season, the teams battled to the same scoreline at Lumen Field. The May meeting also saw the Pride score first.
All-time, the Reign hold have amassed seven wins, four losses and seven draws in all NWSL competitions against Orlando and have won five of the last eight meetings, netting 30 total goals compared to the Pride’s 20.
2. SCOUTING ORLANDO PRIDE – Orlando currently sits atop the NWSL standings with a perfect 3-0-0 record. The team has scored 10 goals across three matches and have conceded just once.
Most recently, the Pride took on San Diego Wave FC at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando and won 2-1. All three goals were scored in the second half of match, with Orlando defender Haley McCutcheon capitalizing on a corner kick to open the scoring. San Diego found an equalizer 12 minutes later, but it couldn’t hold onto the point as Orlando were awarded a penalty kick and Marta made no mistake as she buried the ball in the back of the net to earn the Pride’s third consecutive win of the season.
Orlando has five players out for the match - Amanda Allen (SEI - shoulder), Simone Charley (SEI – ankle), Julie Doyle (knee), Luana (SEI - illness), Aryssa Mahrt (knee) and Rafaelle (thigh).
3. RETURNING HOME – Despite opening the NWSL season at home, it has been nearly a month since the Reign have played a match at Lumen Field. The team played on the road in North Carolina and Los Angeles, followed by an international window and is eager to get back in front of a home crowd in Seattle. The Reign have hosted the Pride a total of nine times in all NWSL competitions and are unbeaten across eight of those matches.
4. YOUNG PLAYERS CONTINUE TO SHINE – It’s no secret that Seattle’s young talent has been a critical part of the team this season. Headlining the group, defender Jordyn Bugg has been defensively solid, making 18 clearances and posting a perfect tackle success rate (100%), in addition to scoring the game-winning goal against the North Carolina Courage in March.
On the opposite side the of the field, rookie forward Maddie Dahlien has started in every match this season for the Reign and is searching for her first professional goal. She currently leads the team in shots and shots on target.
