Key Info Ahead of the Match:

1. LAST MEETING – Seattle Reign FC and Angel City FC last met in October 2024 at Lumen Field. In a back-and-forth battle, the Reign narrowly fell 1-0 to the visitors, bringing the all-time series record to 8-2-1. Seattle has scored 20 goals in the head-to-head series, compared to Angel City’s 10.

The two teams also met during preseason at the Coachella Valley Invitational and tied 1-1. Forward Maddie Dahlien was the lone goal scorer for the Reign, using her energetic presence up top to win possession from Angel City and carry the ball down the field to goal, setting up a one-on-one opportunity against the goalkeeper before finding the back of the net.

2. SCOUTING ANGEL CITY – Angel City FC has played two matches in the regular season, both ending in 1-1 draws. Most recently, they played Portland Thorns FC at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon. Angel City scored first in the 9th minute of the match.

Defender Sarah Gorden started the play, threading a pass to midfielder Alanna Kennedy, who played the ball onto defender Gisele Thompson on the right side of the field. Thompson carried the ball to the edge of the 18-yard box before playing a diagonal pass to forward Kennedy Fuller. Fuller turned on the ball to evade her defender and found the back of the net. Portland answered back in the 30th minute to level the score and force Angel City to settle for one point in the match.

Angel City Currently has six players out for the match - Elizabeth Eddy (lower leg), Jun Endo (SEI – knee), Sydney Leroux (excused absence), Megan Reid (illness), Ali Riley (SEI – upper leg) and Hannah Stambaugh (illness).

3. YOUTH ON THE RISE – It’s no secret that the Reign have a young roster this season. With an average age of 26.1, the squad includes nine players that are 23 or younger. Against North Carolina, 18-year-old defender Jordyn Bugg struck the game-winning goal, and 23-year-old midfielder Maddie Mercado recorded the assist on midfielder Jess Fishlock’s opening goal.

Similarly, Angel City’s young players have been making a strong impression to start the season. Angel City has recorded two goals this season, scored by forward Kennedy Fuller (18) and Alyssa Thompson (20).

4. WEST COAST RIVALRY – Since Angel City joined the league in 2022, the two teams have squared off 11 times in NWSL competitions, including four Challenge Cup matches and once in the playoffs. Over half of the matches between the budding west coast rivals have produced a scoreline featuring three or more goals between the two teams. The Reign alone have scored three or more goals four times while never conceding more than twice in a single match.

The Reign also have five players on the active roster that are originally from California – defenders Lauren Barnes, Jordyn Bugg and Madison Curry, midfielder Maddie Mercado and forward Lynn Biyendolo.
