Key Points Ahead of the Match:
1. LAST MEETING – Seattle Reign FC and Angel City FC last met in the 2023 NWSL playoffs. The Reign, in front of a home crowd at Lumen Field, downed Angel City by one goal. Forward Veronica Latsko scored the game winner in the 87th minute of the match. The win marked the Reign’s seventh all-time win in nine meetings with Angel City FC.
The Reign’s current run is the first time they’ve won consecutive games across all competitions this season. A win at Angel City would give the team consecutive road wins in a single regular season for the first time since 2022.
2. SCOUTING ANGEL CITY – Angel City FC currently sits ninth place in the NWSL standings with 19 points and a record of six wins, nine losses and three draws. The team most recently earned two consecutive 2-1 wins, downing the Chicago Red Stars on September 1 and San Diego Wave FC on August 24.
Angel City FC currently has two players out for the match – Jun Endo (SEI - knee) and Ali Riley (SEI – upper leg). No players are questionable for the match, while Gisele Thompson (USA)) is on international duty.
“I think similar to us, really – I think they've just clicked a little bit lately. I think some of their players that weren't necessarily getting a ton of minutes earlier in the season are now getting minutes. I look at someone like Messiah Bright. I think she's been great. And they have a lot of depth, you know. I think, that their older experienced players are all coming back to health. So, we always have good games against Angel City,” said Seattle Reign FC Head Coach Laura Harvey, who has returned from illness to travel with the team to Los Angeles.
3. FOCUSED ON THE REIGN – After a tough start to the season, the Reign have won two consecutive matches and are on the hunt for the third. With the summer signings now integrated into the lineup, the team is finding its stride and its unique identity.
I think overall, our biggest thing is just like we've been trying to find our identity again. I think for us, we know at the core that we when we press, we just gotta be all committed to it,” said defender Shae Holmes.
"I think that's what we really honed in on, especially as a back line like when we go, we go, we rotate, we back each other and then we just like be so aggressive that they just can't make the next move.”
