Jordyn Bugg Wins First Goal of the Week Honor
The National Women’s Soccer League today announced that defender Jordyn Bugg has won NWSL Goal of the Week. She is the first Reign player to take home the honor since midfielder Ji So-Yun won the award in September 2024.
The second-year defender scored her first-ever professional goal in the 56th minute of Reign FC’s match against the North Carolina Courage on Saturday, March 22. The goal, which doubled Seattle’s lead at the time, would end up winning the game for the Reign and securing a valuable three points on the road, in a notoriously difficult place to play.
The strike displayed maturity and poise, as Bugg took just one touch to set up her shot off a Courage clearance before sending the ball sailing into the upper 90.
After the gritty 2-1 win over North Carolina, Bugg and the Reign travel to Los Angeles to take on Angel City FC on Sunday, March 30 at 5:00 p.m. PT.
