Defender Jordyn Bugg Nominated for Goal of the Week

Seattle Reign FC defender Jordyn Bugg has been nominated for NWSL Goal of the Week. Bugg earned her first-ever nomination thanks to her long-range strike in the 56th minute of Reign FC’s match against the North Carolina Courage on Saturday. The goal secured all three points in the Reign’s 2-1 road win.

The strike was nothing short of spectacular as the second-year defender's technical ability was on full display. From nearly 35-yards out, Bugg took one touch to settle a clearance from North Carolina’s backline before sending the ball into the upper right corner of the goal. The picture-perfect shot was the longest goal struck by a teenager in NWSL history.

Saturday marked the defender’s eighth NWSL appearance and her first-ever NWSL goal. She’s nominated for Goal of the Week alongside Angel City’s Kennedy Fuller, Bay FC’s Karlie Lema and Utah’s Claudia Zornoza.
