Defender Amber Brooks Waived by OL Reign
OL Reign today announced that the club has waived defender Amber Brooks.
Brooks was first signed by OL Reign during the 2015 NWSL season. She made 12 appearances for the Reign and scored one goal, helping the club to win its second NWSL Shield. She then spent four seasons with the Houston Dash before returning to the Reign in March 2020.
In 2020, Brooks played in eight total matches for the Reign between the NWSL Challenge Cup and Fall Series. She scored one goal in 2020, against the Portland Thorns. During the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup, she played in three matches for a total of 199 minutes. During the 2021 season, the defender played 321 minutes across 11 games. She made 24 clearances, five interceptions and one block as part of OL Reign’s backline.
“As our squad for the upcoming season evolved it became apparent that opportunities for Amber would be limited this year. After sharing these expectations with Amber, she and I agreed that her best option was a move to another team in the NWSL,” said OL Reign head coach Laura Harvey. “We are hopeful that by making this move before preseason it provides Amber a well-deserved chance with another NWSL team. Amber has been an incredible professional during her time with the club and we wish her nothing but the best.”
