Celebrate 15 Days Until Megan Rapinoe Jersey Retirement Match with 15 Outstanding Stats

There are only 15 days until Seattle Reign FC celebrates club legend, Megan Rapinoe, at her Jersey Retirement Match on August 25. Learn more about Rapinoe’s career with the 15 outstandings stats below: 

1 Megan Rapinoe is the first-ever Reign player to have their jersey retired. She is the only player to ever wear the number 15 for the Reign.

3 – In her time with the Reign, Rapinoe led the team to three NWSL shields – tied for the most of any team in the league. The forward recorded a goal in all three of Seattle’s shield-winning matches (July 30, 2014; August 26,2015; October 1, 2022) 

4 – A mainstay on the United States Women’s National Team, Rapinoe starred in four separate FIFA Women’s World Cups (2011, 2015, 2019, 2023). 

6 – Tied for the third most honored player in NWSL history, Rapinoe made the NWSL Best XI and Second XI a total of six times. She was honored as part of the Best XI in 2018 and the Second XI in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2022. 

8 – Rapinoe was honored as the NWSL Player of the Week eight times, tied for the third most overall. She won for the first time in Week 16 of the 2013 NWSL season and for the final time in Week 16 of the 2022 NWSL season. 

10 – One of just three players to stick with the team from its inception through the 2023 season, Rapinoe played a total of 10 NWSL seasons with the Reign. 

15 – There are just 15 days until the Reign’s iconic number 15 has her jersey retired. She will be the only player to ever wear the number 15 for the Reign. 

26 – The dynamic attacker tallied a total of 26 regular season assists in her NWSL career. She ranks second in club history and is tied for seventh in NWSL history. She recorded a career high of six assists during the 2018 NWSL season. 

51 – A threat up top, Rapinoe notched 51 regular season goals, the most in Reign history. Ranked sixth overall in the NWSL history, she had her highest-scoring season in 2017 when she scored 12 goals for the Reign. 

63 – Goal scored for the USWNT (10th most goals in USWNT History Also a star on the global stage, she scored 63 goals for the United States Women’s National Team. She scored her very first goal for the national team on October 1, 2006, in a match against Chinese Taipei. 

73 – Rapinoe recorded a staggering 73 assists for the United States, including her iconic cross that Abby Wambach headed home in the dying seconds of extra time against Brazil in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup quarterfinal. 

93 – Ranking fourth all-time in Reign history, Rapinoe made 93 NWSL regular season starts between 2013 and 2023. 

115 – Once again occupying the number four spot all-time for the Reign, Rapinoe made 115 total appearances in the regular season for the Reign. She subbed onto the field 22 times. 

203 – After debuting for the United States on July 23, 2006, Rapinoe amassed 203 caps for her country. 

8,454 – Throughout her career with the Reign, Rapinoe played a total of 8,454 minutes – the fourth most in club history. She played her first of many 90 minutes matches on June 26, 2013 – her club debut.
