OL Reign Acquire Allocation Money and Draft Pick from Gotham FC

OL Reign announced that midfielder Allie Long has been traded to NJ/NY Gotham FC for $80,000 in allocation money and Gotham FC’s natural 2nd round pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft. Additionally, the teams swapped spots in the Discovery Ranking Order.

Long departs after three seasons with OL Reign, having been acquired in January of 2018 from Portland Thorns FC in exchange for a conditional second-round draft pick in the 2020 NWSL College Draft and the rights to Caitlin Foord.

After arriving from Portland in 2018, Long became a fixture in the Reign midfield, scoring three goals and adding three assists in 41 starts while playing a total of 3563 minutes for the club.

“Allie has been an important part of the club since her arrival and played a crucial role in our run to the playoffs in 2018 and 2019,” said OL Reign CEO Bill Predmore. “Parting with a player of Allie’s caliber is always a difficult decision. The assets we acquired in this trade will directly support our efforts to build a roster capable of competing for a championship this season.”
