OL Reign: Black Business Month - Player Picks

In addition to debuting a captain’s armband to support Black Business Month in August, OL Reign players came together to create a list of some of their favorite Black-owned businesses in the Tacoma and Seattle areas. We encourage our fans to shop at Black-owned businesses year round! Here’s a list of some of our favorites:

“Blk Sunflower is more than a candle company. We curate spaces to allow interactions that foster growth, education and embody the need for human connections that fill the mind, body and soul.”

Founded by Karina Blasco, Only Oatmeal Cookie Creations is just that - only oatmeal cookies!

“With faith and a passion for creativity and excellence, I pursued the reinvention of a childhood memory — the traditional oatmeal cookie. From me to you, I give you my gift, a unique and delicious spin on this sweet confection. Enjoy!”

Located in Tacoma, Quickie Too was founded by Niombi Howell. She still owns and runs Quickie Too with her daughter Afi Howell. The story behind the delicious vegan cafe is as follows:

“Once upon a time there was a neighborhood store called Hillside Quickie. Owned by a vegan family ironically they only sold a small amount of vegan food. One day the mother decided to open a cafe where they could sell all the yummy vegan food they ate at home every night. But how would they get the neighborhood to know it was owned by the same family? “We’ll call it Quickie, too!” The end.”

Campfire Coffee is a great place to grab a coffee in Tacoma! The cozy coffeeshop is located in downtown and has something for everyone.

“We roast coffee over a campfire, the way people did it for hundreds maybe thousands of years before industrial roasters became a thing. This lost art of fire roasting is difficult to get down but the taste is so worth it. Just imagine a cozy coffee roast, sitting around the fire pit sharing laughs and memories. That’s Campfire Coffee.”
