Phallon Tullis-Joyce Earns Third NWSL Save of the Week

The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that OL Reign goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce has earned the NWSL Verizon Save of the Week for her save in the 82nd minute of the match on Sunday, April 17, against Angel City FC at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington. This is the third week in a row that Tullis-Joyce has earned this honor.

The National Women's Soccer League Save of the Week is a weekly award given to individual players in the National Women's Soccer League since 2016. The honor is awarded by popular social media vote to the player deemed to have made the best save over the past week.

This is the third time that Tullis-Joyce has won this award, in her five NWSL starts. She has been in the net for every minute of the 2022 Challenge Cup for OL Reign, playing an important part in the team’s undefeated run. She has made 16 save across five games, which is the fifth best of any goalkeeper in the tournament.

In OL Reign’s match against Angel City FC on April 17, Tullis Joyce made three total saves to limit Angel City to one goal throughout the game. Her 82nd minute save was the first major save she had to make during the match, and she made no mistake. Angel City forward Jun Endo gathered the ball at the top of OL Reign’s 18-yard box before firing a low and powerful shot at the goal. However, Tullis-Joyce dove to the ground and her used her impressive reach to push the ball off frame and preserve OL Reign’s lead.
