Phallon Tullis-Joyce Earns NWSL Save of the Week

The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that OL Reign goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce has earned the NWSL Verizon Save of the Week for her save in the seventh minute of the match on Saturday, March 26, against Angel City FC at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, California.

The National Women's Soccer League Save of the Week is a weekly award given to individual players in the National Women's Soccer League since 2016. The honor is awarded by popular social media vote to the player deemed to have made the best save over the past week.

This is the first time that Tullis-Joyce has won this award. The goalkeeper has played every minute in both of OL Reign’s Challenge Cup matches this year. She made eight total saves across the two games and only allowed one goal each game.

In OL Reign’s match against Angel City, Tullis-Joyce made six saves to hold Angel City to just one goal and secure the 3-1 win for the Reign. Her seventh minute save set the tone for the match early. Angel City’s Savannah McCaskill took a powerful shot from outside of the 18-yard box, but Tullis-Joyce kept a close eye on it and was able to tip it over the bar to prevent Angel City from taking the early lead.

Tullis-Joyce is the first OL Reign player to receive this honor in 2022.
