Jimena López and Dzsenifer Marozsán Called Up for September FIFA Window
OL Reign defender Jimena López and OL Reign midfielder Dzsenifer Marozsán have been called up to their national teams for the September FIFA window. Jimena López has been called up to the Mexico Women’s National Team to play in Mexico’s match against Colombia to prepare for 2023 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers and Marozsán is set to play in two World Cup Qualifying matches with Germany.
No. 28 ranked Mexico will take on No. 26 ranked Colombia on Tuesday, September 21 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico. At 5:00 p.m. PT. The last time Mexico and Colombia faced off was in August 2019 during the Women’s Pan American Games, where Mexico initially went down 2-0, but came back to tie the game 2-2.
Most recently, López and Mexico took on the U.S. Women’s National Team in the Summer Series. The two plays played two matches in July, prior to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The U.S. came away with the 4-0 win in both matches. López played 173 minutes in that series, putting in 83 minutes in the first game and 90 in the second. The defender made her Mexico Women’s National Team debut on February 27, 2019, in a friendly against Italy. Since her debut, López has scored two goals in 25 appearances, including 23 starts.
No. 3 ranked Germany takes on No. 79 ranked Bulgaria in their first. The match will be played at Stadion der Freundschaft in Cottbus, Germany at 7:00 a.m. PT. Germany then takes on No. 41 ranked Serbia at Stadion Chemnitz, Chemnitz, Germany at 7:00 a.m. PT.
Marozsán made her debut for the German National Team on October 28, 2010, in a match against Australia. Since then, she has made 104 senior national team appearances for Germany and scored 33 goals for the nation. In 2016, Marozsán was named captain of the team. In 2017, 2018 and 2019, she was honored as the German Women’s Footballer of the Year. Most recently, Marozsán played 69 minutes in Germany’s 2-1 loss in a friendly against the Netherlands on February 24th of this year.
