Rapinoe and Lavelle to Play with USWNT in Four Friendlies

United States Women’s National Team has announced four friendly matches to be played before the end of 2021. Two matches against Paraguay will take place during the September FIFA international match window and two matches against Korea Republic will take place during the October FIFA international match window. The roster consists of the same players called up by head coach Vlatko Andonovski to the Olympic Games earlier this summer.

The United States roster includes OL Reign forward Megan Rapinoe and midfielder Rose Lavelle. Rapinoe and Lavelle both featured heavily in the United States’ bronze medal finish in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Lavelle scored the opening goal in the USA’s win over New Zealand in the group stage of the tournament. Rapinoe scored twice in the bronze medal victory against Australia.

The No. 1 ranked U.S. Women’s National Team plays their first two matches on September 16 and 21 against No. 50 ranked Paraguay. These matches mark the first time that these two sides will meet at the senior level. The first match will take place in Cleveland, Ohio and the second will take place in Rose Lavelle’s hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.

During the October FIFA international match window, the United States takes on No. 18 Korea Republic. The two games series is set to take place on October 21 and 26 in Kansas City, Kansas and St. Paul, Minnesota. The United States has taken on Korea Republic 13 total times and has earned a record of 10-0-3 in the series.
