Jas Spencer Departs Reign in Trade With Houston Dash
OL Reign has acquired a third-round pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft from the Houston Dash in return for forward Jasmyne Spencer.
Spencer departs after three seasons with OL Reign, having joined the club in a trade with the Orlando Pride ahead of the 2018 season.
Spencer’s debut match with OL Reign against the Washington Spirit on March 24, 2018, marked her 100th NWSL regular season game. Spencer missed all but 20 minutes of the 2019 NWSL season with a torn ACL that she suffered during the first match of the regular season in Houston. During her three seasons with OL Reign, Spencer accumulated 1383 minutes of playing time over 33 matches, scoring two goals for the club and adding one assist.
“Since I arrived in Tacoma, I have seen that Jas is a special player in our group. She works very hard for the team in training and in our matches,” said OL Reign head coach Farid Benstiti. “We know she must have an opportunity to play this season, but with us we believe her playing time will be limited this season. She must play, and Houston will give the chance for that to happen. We are sad and it is hard to have her go, but we are very happy for her that she will have this opportunity. I know she will do well for Houston.”
