Allie Long Signs with OL Reign for 2021 Season
Allie Long has signed with OL Reign for the 2021 NWSL season. As per club and league policy, terms were not disclosed.
Long, who was a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team squad that won the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, enters her fourth season with the club, having been acquired in January of 2018 from Portland Thorns FC in exchange for a conditional second-round draft pick in the 2020 NWSL College Draft and the rights to Caitlin Foord. Over her three seasons with OL Reign, Long has started and played in 41 matches, amassing a total of 3563 minutes while delivering 3 goals and 3 assists.
“We are extremely happy to have Allie back with the club this season,” said OL Reign head coach Farid Benstiti. “She is such an important player for our club and always works very hard to help us meet our objectives. We have big ambitions for this season and know Allie will be an important part of our success.”
“Since I got to the Reign my goals have been to win a championship and become the best player I can possibly be,” said Long. “I haven’t hit my best yet, and I am grateful to return to the club, staff, and an environment that will continue to push me to be the best player I can possibly be. This club deserves a championship and I am more than hungry to help them achieve that.”
In addition, OL Reign announced that it has waived midfielder Morgan Andrews. Andrews joined the club in 2018 after being selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2018 NWSL Dispersal Draft. In her three seasons with the club, Morgan featured in 30 matches, including five during the 2020 Challenge Cup and Fall Series, playing a total of 1438 minutes.
