OL Reign, Megan Rapinoe and Fans Pay It Forward with Trophy Cupcakes for Frontline Workers
As part of the club’s Pay It Forward campaign in conjunction with Seattle-based bakery Trophy Cupcakes, OL Reign fans have donated hundreds of cupcakes to workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. The OL Reign-themed cupcakes will include a handwritten thank you note from Megan Rapinoe, and will be delivered by OL Reign staff members, including CEO Bill Predmore and OL Reign Academy President Teresa Predmore, around the Puget Sound on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
The Pay it Forward campaign will bring cupcakes to personnel working in essential industries including hospitals, blood donation centers, law enforcement, nonprofits, food pantries and grocery stores. Cupcakes will be delivered to University of Washington’s Harborview Medical Center and its Montlake Heart Institute, MultiCare’s Tacoma General Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Bloodworks Northwest’s pop-up donor center at T-Mobile Field and Bloodworks Northwest, FareStart, the Tacoma Police Department, Fred Meyer’s and Trader Joe’s in Tacoma.
Each cupcake delivery will be accompanied by a hand-written note from OL Reign forward Megan Rapinoe, thanking workers from all industries for their “incredible bravery, personal sacrifice and unwavering American spirit” in the fight against COVID-19.
Fans who wish to donate additional cupcakes may do so by visiting Trophy Cupcakes’ Pay it Forward page. In addition to purchasing cupcakes through the Pay it Forward program, fans can purchase and send OL Reign-themed cupcakes to their friends and family in the Seattle area, where Trophy delivers.
Since launching the Pay it Forward program in March, Trophy Cupcakes has sent over 20,000 cupcakes to workers on the front lines around the Puget Sound.
