Player Loan Updates – Week of 12/14

Two OL Reign players out on loan saw time for their respective clubs over the past week. Here’s how their sides fared:

In Denmark, Machaela George assisted on Sara Thrige’s game-winning goal as Fortuna Hjørring defeated Slovenian side ŽNK Pomurje 3-2 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday, December 16. George was instrumental in the club’s 6-2 aggregate win, having scored a brace in the first leg on December 9.

In England, Jess Fishlock starred for Reading FC in a 3-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, scoring a brace and adding an assist to help the club take three points before the winter break.

The midfielder opened the scoring 17 minutes in, when she pounced on a misplayed pass in the final third and sprinted forward, threading a low shot past Brighton keeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand to make it 1-0.

Fishlock scored again shortly before halftime, this time patiently waiting to settle a bouncing cross in the penalty area before firing it into the net for the game-winning goal.

The Welsh international helped Reading score an insurance goal in the first minute of second half stoppage time, threading a through ball to Rachel Rowe, which Rowe hit across the face of goal and finished off the left post.

The FA Women’s Super League now enters a two week break, with matches set to resume on Saturday, January 9.
