Dallstream Retires After Seven Seasons with Reign FC

After a decade of professional soccer, on Friday Reign FC Kiersten Dallstream made the decision to hang up her boots. The forward was a Reign FC original—one of four players on the roster, including Jess Fishlock, Megan Rapinoe and Lauren Barnes, that have been with the club since its inaugural 2013 season.

Midfielder Jess Fishlock reflected on Dallstream’s contributions to the club.

“Kiersten will be missed at the Reign,” Fishlock said. “She’s an original and has been here since the very beginning. She has always been great for the group and a friend to me. She gave her all every day. I will personally miss her a lot and I want her to know that the Reign will never forget her part in its journey. I wish her nothing but great things for her future.”

Dallstream signed with Reign FC ahead of the 2013 season, playing in 20 matches and tallying 1,298 minutes. She was an integral part of the team that won back-to-back shields in 2014 and 2015, making consecutive appearances in the NWSL championship game. The 2014 run included a league-record 16 match unbeaten streak, helping Reign FC win the league by 13 points.

On August 19, 2017, Dallstream scored her first career goal in the 85th minute of a match against Sky Blue FC, chasing down a rebound inside the penalty area and firing into the net to give Reign FC the lead. The goal became part of league history in what ended up as a 5-4 loss to Sky Blue FC. The nine goals scored is tied for a league record for the most goals scored in a single match.

“Kiersten has been a part of the club for several years now, having been with us since the very beginning,” Reign FC captain Lauren Barnes said. “She has seen the club’s progression and how it has turned into something very special. Congratulations to her on such a special career and we wish her all the joy and happiness in her next chapter.”

Dallstream made 74 appearances for Reign FC, including 31 starts. While with the club, Reign FC has compiled a 67-40-39 regular season record and averaged 1.63 points per game, the second-best margin in league history.

 “It is difficult to imagine our organization without Kiersten,” said Reign FC owner and president Bill Predmore. “As one of our originals she’s been with us through the good times and the bad, and has always been ready to do whatever was needed for the team. She will be missed.”
