Celia Jiménez Delgado Called in to Spanish National Team Camp

Reign FC defender Celia Jiménez Delgado has been called in to Spain’s final national team camp prior to the Women’s World Cup in France. The camp will allow head coach Jorge Vilda to evaluate his team as he prepares to announce his final World Cup roster later this month. Jiménez Delgado, 23, is pursuing a second trip to the  World Cup with Spain.

As a result of her selection to the Spanish squad Celia will be unavailable for Reign FC’s next match on Saturday, May 18 against Sky Blue FC.

“I am really excited to be back with the national team,” Jimenez Delgado said. “It is always an honor to represent my country and compete against world class players.”

Spain will play an international friendly against Cameroon in Guadalajara on Friday, May 17. La Roja will play one final friendly against Japan on Sunday, June 2 in France before it begins group play in the World Cup.
