Day in Photos: OL Reign Clinches a Playoff Spot with Win Over Houston

On Saturday, September 24, OL Reign played their last of three consecutive games on the road. After picking up wins in North Carolina and New Jersey, the team had their sights set on a perfect nine-point road trip. Their last opponent, the Houston Dash, sat just below them in the standings and were also fighting to clinch their spot in the 2022 NWSL playoffs, but OL Reign came out on top with a solid 2-0 win. The hard-fought win secured OL Reign’s place in the playoffs for the sixth time in club history.

Debuting their 20th new starting lineup in 21 matches, the win was truly a team effort, with every player contributing to the team’s success. OL Reign’s backline came up big, shutting Houston out completely. Forward Bethany Balcer scored the opening goal in the 29th minute, followed by forward Veronica Latsko’s 76th minute goal to seal the victory for the Reign.
