Day in Photos: Fan Appreciation Match, Presented by BECU

Last Friday, September 9, OL Reign hosted the Chicago Red Stars in their annual Fan Appreciation Match, Presented by BECU.

On the field, OL Reign battled to a hard fought 2-2 draw. The team initially took the lead in the 18th minute, when forward Jordyn Huitema scored her first NWSL goal. The Reign held on to the lead until stoppage time of the first half, when Chicago pulled one back.

In the second half, Chicago scored first, on a penalty kick. OL Reign answered back in the 80th minute. Midfielder Rose Lavelle settled a through ball from forward Megan Rapinoe in the middle of the field and dribbled all the way to the top of Chicago’s 18-yard box before striking the ball beautifully into the back of the net.

Off the field, the Fan Appreciation Match theme was on display! Fans collected 2022 OL Reign team posters as they entered the gates of Lumen Field, in addition to OL Reign fans, perfect for warm Seattle days. One BECU Lucky Row in the stadium was treated to a cool prize pack!
