OL Reign Signs Three Players to Short-Term Contracts
OL Reign has signed three players to short-term contracts ahead of the NWSL Fall Series, the club announced today. Defender Kimberly Hazlett, defender Sam Hiatt, and forward Miranda Nild will join the club through the end of the 2020 season.
Hazlett and Nild have been training with the club as non-roster invitees, while Hiatt, who was selected by the club with the 33rd overall pick at the 2020 NWSL College Draft, recently reported to training for the first time after recovering from an injury.
Nild brings World Cup experience to OL Reign, having started and played the full 90 minutes of all three of Thailand’s matches at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France. The forward has represented Thailand since making her debut in 2017. The Castro Valley, California native also won the 2019 Lithuanian A Lyga with Gintra Universitetas following her collegiate career at Cal.
“I am grateful for the incredible opportunity to play in the NWSL,” Nild said. “I am especially excited to play with such great teammates on OL Reign.”
Hazlett trained with OL Reign in Montana ahead of the NWSL Challenge Cup, but did not make the club’s 28-player roster for the tournament. The Bellingham, Washington native played collegiately for the University of Portland, where she was named to the 2017 All-WCC Second Team and the 2016 WCC All-Freshman Team.
“I am so grateful and excited for this opportunity,” Hazlett said. “The team competitiveness and culture elevates me as player and person. I want to be a part of a winning team and make everyone around me better having a common goal in mind of a championship. The Pacific Northwest has always been my home and I’m excited to play in the community I grew up playing in.”
Hiatt joins OL Reign following a trophy-laden four years at Stanford. The Newcastle, Washington native won a pair of NCAA titles with the Cardinal in 2017 and 2019, as well as three consecutive Pac-12 titles from 2017-19. Hiatt also brings youth international experience to the club, having captained the U.S. Women’s National Team U-20s at the 2018 U-20 World Cup in France.
“It feels amazing to sign with the club and I’m grateful that OL Reign is giving me this opportunity,” Hiatt said. “I’m so excited to have the chance to play for my hometown club and the team that I’ve watched and supported as a young player here in Washington.”
