OL Reign Fall Series Roster Update
OL Reign today announced its updated roster in advance of the start of matches in the NWSL Fall Series. OL Reign’s Fall Series roster is comprised of 32 players, including 26 players under contract, one unsigned player selected by OL Reign in the 2020 NWSL College Draft, one former and one current player from OL Reign Academy, and three non-roster invitees. Of the 32 players on OL Reign’s roster, eight are unavailable for training and a total of ten are unavailable to participate in NWSL Fall Series matches.
OL Reign made significant changes to its roster in the month following the conclusion of the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup:
OL Reign declined to extend the contracts of goalkeeper Carly Nelson and forward Mariah Lee, both of whom were on short-term contracts that ended July 31.
Defender Alana Cook completed her loan assignment with OL Reign and returned to Paris-Saint Germain at the end of July.
Defender Adrienne Jordan, who joined the club in May 2020 from Birmingham City, completed her contract with OL Reign and subsequently signed with UD Granadilla Tenerife of the Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino.
Forward Jodie Taylor was transferred to Olympique Lyonnais on August 4.
Defender Machaela George has signed an agreement with OL Reign through the 2022 season. George has since been loaned to Fortuna Hjørring A/S in Denmark through December 2020.
OL Reign has also extended the contract of midfielder Rebecca Quinn through the 2021 season, with a club option for the 2022 season. Subsequent to Quinn’s re-signing, the Canadian international was loaned to Vittsjö GIK of the Swedish Damallsvenskan through the end of 2020.
Defender Lauren Barnes has been loaned to Kristianstads DFF through the conclusion of the Swedish Damallsvenskan season in November, while forward Yuka (Nicole) Momiki has been loaned to Linköpings FC, also through the end of the season in Sweden.
Midfielder Jess Fishlock has joined FA Women’s Super League side Reading FC on loan, with a planned return prior to the start of the 2021 NWSL season.
Forward Darian Jenkins has signed a two-year agreement with OL Reign, extending her stay with the club through the end of the 2022 season. Subsequent to her signing, Jenkins was loaned to French Division 1 Féminine side FC Girondins de Bordeaux through February 2021.
In addition, two additional contracted players will be unavailable for selection in the NWSL Fall Series.
Midfielder Kelcie Hedge, who was selected in the first round of the 2020 NWSL College Draft, is recovering from surgery after tearing her ACL on July 1, 2020. Hedge is expected to return to OL Reign for the start of the 2021 NWSL season.
Forward Megan Rapinoe has elected to opt-out of the NWSL Fall Series.
Additions to OL Reign’s Fall Series roster include three non-roster invitees, including defender Kim Hazlett, who returns after participating in the club’s preseason training in Montana, forward Miranda Nild, a Thai international and product of Cal Berkeley, and forward Katie Benz, also a Cal grad.
Defender Sam Hiatt, who was selected by OL Reign in the 4th round of the 2020 NWSL College Draft, has recovered from injury and has started training with OL Reign for the first time in 2020.
Defender Julia Ashley, who joined OL Reign in an offseason trade with Sky Blue FC, is training with OL Reign after not making the club’s Challenge Cup roster due to injury.
Two OL Reign Academy products – goalkeeper Neeku Purcell and defender Smith Hunter—are training with the club but are not eligible to play in any Fall Series match.
