OL Reign Re-Signs Forward Leah Pruitt for Three Years
OL Reign has re-signed forward Leah Pruitt to a three-year deal, the club announced today. Per league and club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Leah has exceeded all expectations since she joined our club before the Challenge Cup,” said OL Reign head coach Farid Benstiti. “She worked incredibly hard to recover from injury, which enabled her to make impact in each of our matches in the Fall Series. We believe Leah has tremendous potential and I am excited to be working with her this season.”
OL Reign acquired Pruitt in June after she was waived by the North Carolina Courage, where she played her rookie season after being selected as the 5th overall pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft. Her first professional year was ended early by a knee injury that also prevented her from joining OL Reign in Utah for the NWSL Challenge Cup.
The forward appeared in all four of OL Reign’s matches during the Fall Series. She made her first start and scored her first goal for her new club in a 2-0 win over the Utah Royals on October 17.
“I am so excited and grateful to be back with OL Reign,” Pruitt said. “I can’t wait to start the 2021 season and am looking forward to my growth as a player in this organization. There is no place I would rather be.”
